- Mr.
Bains’ practice is devoted to patent litigation and prosecution matters
involving highly technical and complex technology. Representative
technologies involved in Mr. Bains’ practice include computer systems,
communications systems, memory products, semiconductor manufacturing
processes, and, in particular, software applications relating to image
compression, video compression, audio compression, and Web-based technology.
Mr. Bains’ practice includes counseling clients on patent acquisition and
enforcement issues. Prior to his service at Arnold, White & Durkee, Mr.
Bains worked as a computer engineer/programmer for International Business
Machines. He is experienced in telecommunications and computer networking,
as well as computer programming.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS
- Mr.
Bains has been involved in the prosecution of United States and foreign
applications for a wide variety of companies, including Advanced Micro
Devices, Compaq Computer Corporation, Intel Corporation,
Apple Computer Corporation, and Micron Electronics. Mr. Bains is also
experienced in all aspects of patent litigation, and has assisted with cases
for clients such as Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd., Compaq
Computer Corporation, and Apple.

Bains is a member of the Texas Bar and is admitted to practice in various
federal district courts. He is registered to practice before the United
States Patent and Trademark Office.
